Laser Class Development – August & September

Posted in VLA by Sean Bly.

The Laser Class Development program for 2015/16 is being managed by Sarah Ogilvie in conjunction with the Victorian Laser Association.

Laser Class Development Coaching is open to all Laser sailors of any age group, who are members of the association, and wish to develop/improve their Laser sailing with a view to competing in State and National regattas.

To assist Sarah we will use specialist Laser coaches when Sarah is unavailable, or where the sailor coach ratio warrants additional on water support.

Masters sailors are encouraged to join the Class Development Sessions, but it is also recognised that the Masters would like their own training camp, and planning is underway for this to be conducted prior to the Laser Masters Australian Championships at Port Stephens, NSW 12-15 February 2016.

The Laser Class Development program commences at Mordialloc Sailing Club with the start of the Mordialloc winter series. Coaching commences at 9am. There will be a break for lunch and the participants can then join the Mordialloc race in the afternoon which starts at 1pm.

The dates for the Mordialloc Winter Series when coaching will be provided are:

Sunday August 2nd

Sunday August 9th

Sunday August 16th

Sunday August 23rd

Sunday September 6th

Sunday September 13th

The Mordialloc winter series has been extended this year by two weeks and now clashes on Sunday September 20th with Super Sail so coaching on this date will depend upon demand.

In addition to the coaching during the Winter Series, Sarah will also be on the water for Sail Mordy on the 29th and 30th of August. As this is a regatta coaching during the event will consist of pre-race briefings, on water support between races, and a post-race briefing.

The cost for individual sessions is $60.00 per day or book for 8 sessions including Sail Mordy for $450.00. The costs do not include the race entry fee at Mordialloc.

Bookings can be made through Trybooking OR on a pay as you go basis or for all the sessions.

We would appreciate it if sailors would book early so that we can manage the sailor/coach ratio and ensure there are sufficient RIBS.
