Five Victorian Laser masters travelled to Queensland to compete in this event which attracted 27 full rigs & 33 Radials. The 8 race series was conducted in very light winds with nothing over 7 knots for the whole regatta & at times almost drifting conditions. Nevertheless the race committee managed to complete 7 races which was a good effort considering the circumstances. The compensation was the temperature, appreciated by the
Victorians, sailing without the need for hot tops or spray jackets.
Both full rig & radial divisions were won by Kiwi’s. James Mitchell was the best of the Victorians with a 12th & Mal Parsons, Dave Kershaw & John d’Helin finishing 17, 18 & 19th respectively. Full results can be seen at http://results.rqys.com.au/splm/SGrp1.htm
The Masters Rep meeting reported no progress on resolving the builders legal dispute & discussion was held around the need to revitalise the Asia Pacific Laser region.
