From my results from the youth nationals and nationals held in Melbourne, I have been selected for the Australian Youth Sailing team and will compete in the ISAF Youth Worlds held in Portugal in July. On the 6th of July, I leave with most of the team and head off for what will be a great trip, but most of all an amazing learning experience. Sailing against some of the best youth girls in the world will be not only lots of fun, but challenging and exciting. I have been training a lot over the past 5 months since the nationals on and off the water. As a part of the youth world’s team, I was selected to compete in the Japan youth nationals in March, this was an awesome experience and I came away with a lot of new knowledge in the sport that I love. Recently I have also done a camp in Sydney and another one In Brisbane, fine tuning my skills and gaining more and more as I go along. I am currently completing year 12 so training is quite difficult as I spend a lot of hours at my desk studying, when I would much prefer to be out on the water! As well as sailing I have been spending quite a few hours in the gym each week, getting stronger and fitter for the laser radial! I am really looking forward to travelling to Portugal and competing, and am grateful for the opportunity and experience.
