An email from the NSW Masters’ Rep….
Hi fellow masters sailors
As most will be aware, entries for the October Masters Worlds in Hyeres opened last Friday and when I last looked there were already 55 applicants from Australia – way ahead of any other country!
In Australia, after the current Australian and World Champions, we have a first in best dressed approach to ranking our entrants for selection to the masters worlds. The listing shown on the ILCA web site does not reflect the order of entry and appears to be random and changes from day to day. I have taken this up with the ILCA and have been assured by ILCA general manager, Eric Faust that
- Do not fear! All Aussies will get in. The limit is 500 boats and it is most unlikely that number will be reached by the entry close deadline. (The slow entry rate from European countries would seem to reinforce that.)
- The listing on the ILCA web page is not in order of receipt but they do of course have that information should an initial ranking be required.
So relax guys – just sit back and arrange those flights, accommodation etc…..
ILCA have still to advise charter boat arrangements but again I would not panic. They will have boats!
All the best
